Kevin's parents have a cabin in Wilsonia Village, a little island of private land surrounded by Kings Canyon National Park. It is a great location, much cooler than where we live in the summer, and a snow covered paradise in the winter. We love to go up there to relax, hike, and snow shoe.

Tristan took this picture of us in front of the cabin |
We had been wanting to take Clarita up to the cabin and get her used to driving in the mountains and going up in elevation. During Memorial Day Weekend we finally got our chance! We went up Sunday afternoon after lunch for Tio Robert's birthday. Clara fell asleep during lunch and didn't wake up until we were almost to the cabin. I guess the increase in elevation didn't bother her ears! Unfortunately Kevin's parents were not able to spend the night, but they made us a delicious dinner and we hung out with them for a little while. Tio Rene, Tia Alyssa, and Tristan and Teagan spent the night and we had a fun time playing games and eating popcorn with them! I love putting Clara and Teagan on the floor next to each other and watching them!

Monday morning Kevin, Tristan, Clara, and I went for a walk around the village. Tristan decided that he wanted to hike to a small waterfall so he led the way (and did a surprisingly good job for a seven and a half year old) and we completed the short hike. It was nice and cool and very pretty.

Tristan may grow up to be a photographer! |
After lunch we decided to head over to the "big trees" aka Grant Grove. This is a grove of Giant Sequoia Trees that never ceases to amaze me no matter how many times I see them. Clarita was equally amazed, so amazed, in fact, that she fell asleep because she couldn't take the amazement!
It was a great first trip to the cabin and Clara was on her best behavior. She was happy the entire time and even slept a solid eight hours and then nursed and slept three more allowing me to catch up on some much needed sleep. We will definitely be heading back up the next time we get a chance!
