Weekend of Fun!

This past weekend was a busy one! Saturday was the ninth annual Fun Day (check out last year's Fun Day VIII) followed by a trip to San Francisco! This year's Fun Day did not have a theme (we're saving up to do it up real big for Fun Day X next year!), and I decided it was way too hot and humid to dress up. That being said, I did find one of my awesome baby outfits for Clarita to wear!

Que Fresa!

There were a ton of babies/toddlers this year and five grandma's and a couple of grandpa's to watch them! Clara was a little hesitant to stay in the pool house with the kids at first, not because she didn't want me to leave, but because she wanted to stay outside. She started playing with some toys and didn't even notice when I left. Apparently Reedcito's grandpa started speaking Spanish to Clara and she got excited and ran over to him to hear more!

I took very few pictures this year since I was busy playing and watching Clara. We had fun, sweated a lot, swam a lot, and ate a lot! We left early (well at 7:45, not as early as we had planned) to drive to San Francisco because Dada was doing a crazy race the next morning. Clarita fell asleep the second we took off and slept until we got into San Francisco. We stayed at our friend Vince's apartment (he was still at Fun Day) and she was in heaven once we got there because he had a ton of remotes to play with. She collected them into piles, pretended they were phones, and pointed them at the TV while singing parts of the Baby Signing Time theme song (we're pretty sure she thinks TVs are only for watching Baby Signing Time since that's all she really sees on them). We didn't get into town until nearly midnight and by the time we were ready for bed it was nearing 12:30. Dada was worried that Clarita was too wound up and would not fall asleep, but I knew she would be out in a second. Luckily I was right!

My favorite part of Vince's room...pictures of tiny Clarita!

Writing Vince a thank you note (probably
about how she pooped on his floor)!

The next morning Kevin got up before 5:00 and took a taxi to the race location. The "aquathon" consisted of a mile and a half swim from Alcatraz to shore followed by a seven mile run across the Golden Gate Bridge and back. There were also something like 400 stairs to run up and down to get to the bridge...crazy for sure! Clarita and I got up around 7:00. got ready and walked down to the beach. I wasn't paying attention and took the round about way which took longer than I anticipated. I kept looking at the time and was really nervous that we would miss Dada's swim finish. I actually ran the last mile or so in my jeans and Tom's pushing the stroller (I still passed some people jogging)! Luckily we made it just in time and saw Dada come up from the water into the transition area. We cheered him on and then ran around and played in the sand while we waited for him to finish the run. Clara was super enamored with the people, birds, dogs, and sand. She did "yoga" (think downward dog with some leg lifts) and ate mouthfuls of sand. She also thought it was hilarious to roll in the sand and would roll over and over in one direction and then back to where she came from. I think she had fun!

Downward dog, her favorite pose

Dada did really well in his race, especially considering he slept less than five hours the night before! He got 12th overall and fourth in his division! We were not ready when he finished so I didn't get any pictures, but we cheered very loudly to make up for it!

Luckily Dada had a sweatshirt she could
borrow so she didn't freeze!
After the race we went to the Center for Fine Arts which had some awesome architecture. Clara had fun running around saying "awua awua" and quacking at the ducks. We then met up with Todd and went to lunch. Clara immediately fell asleep when we put her in the stroller to walk to lunch and slept through lunch. I finally had to wake her up when we got back to Vince's. She played most of the car ride home and slept the last hour. It was a very busy weekend with a ton of driving, but the little Wiggle had fun and is a great traveler!

  1. I can't wait for seven years from now when Clara and Kevin get to do that event together and make history!
