Fireworks!

Clarita had quite a busy Fourth of July weekend! On Thursday we had a few friends to our house to swim and watch the fireworks that the local high school sets off. We only live a block away from the high school so the view of the fireworks is pretty good. There were tons of little ones swimming on Thursday and it was so fun to watch them all! Clara is a little fish and did not want to get out of the pool. I finally had to drag her out right before the fireworks began.

There were a lot of different reactions to the fireworks from the kids. Clara, Cooper, and Reedcito were enthralled complete with Clarita saying "boom boom" after the explosions. Kieran and Baby Lyla were pretty indifferent and Lyla, Connor, and Teagan were scared and cried. Of course the big kids, Emily, Tristan, and Sophia loved the fireworks and were great with the little kiddios. Reedcito fell in love with Sophia and insisted on sitting by her and holding her hand! All in all the kids did great and Clarita certainly had fun playing with them. She was exhausted when the fireworks ended and she finally went to bed around 10:00!

On The Fourth we went to Tia Laurie's and Tio Chino's for more swimming, eating, and fireworks. I think Clarita paid attention to the big kids swimming the day before and learned some new skills! She refused to sit in her floaty, instead preferring to lay on her stomach and kick all over the pool! She had not really kicked much before so we were pretty surprised. Clarita once again did not want to get out of the pool and took turns swimming with various people. She also enjoyed petting Baby Lyla!

We set off some fireworks that Tio Chino got and these were a big hit with Clara. She was enthralled with the lights and noises. The highlight was her screeching along with the fireworks! She did a pretty good imitation and it was hilarious! She also kept calling the fireworks agua and signing cold. We tried explaining that they were fire and hot but I don't think she believed it! We didn't leave los Tios until 10:30 and Clarita was so tired. She was out the second we hit the road, a sure sign of a fun day!
