April Fun

We had a ton of fun in April! Clara and I joined the Engstroms at the high school to watch the Kingsburg High production of Singin' in the Rain. Lissa teaches the stagecraft class so it was fun to see their hard work. Clara absolutely loved it! There was lots of tap dancing and at one point when they were doing silly dances she said, "That's not how I tap dance!" The following week we went to Reedley High to see The Little Mermaid with Tia, Bailey, and Kate (Emmett reluctantly went with Dada to check out the car show). Sophia was in the play and it was Bailey's first time watching a play. The girls loved it of course! Reedley High has always had the best plays and although Mr. Norward retired, Sarah did an amazing job and it did not disappoint! It made me a little sad that Clara will never be in a Reedley High play.

 The following day was the car show in Kingsburg. We went to the pancake breakfast and then checked out the cars. Emmett loved them, Clara was not as impressed. We headed to Emilia's first birthday party next and the kids had a blast celebrating the little lady. Highlights included a water table, pinata filled with dum dums, and of course the bounce house. Denae did a great job and everything was super cute!

We of course had tons of fun with the primos including playing sharks vs fish and of course matching dresses! If Bailey shows up at our house with a dress that Clara has she immediately has to change so they match! Elise started crawling so our mornings are now filled with watching/encouraging her to crawl!

We made a trip to the Fossil Discovery Center and the kids had a blast learning about animals/dinosaurs of the past. They got to find fossils in the sluice, see birds of prey, and even eat hot dogs!

Even though Eleanora was already born, we still went to one last baby shower for her. This was a fiesta theme and the kids had a blast jumping in the bounce house, eating Mexican food, and running around crazy! Emmett was so worn out that he immediately fell asleep on the way home and didn't wake up when I brought him inside. I finally had to wake him up an hour later!

We had lots of impromptu fun with Olive and Winnie! They now just run through the two yards between our houses playing and are constantly going to each other's' houses and asking if the other one can play! We also had lots of fun and some snuggles. I even got to go to a music class!

After Bailey complained that she didn’t like the dancing Christmas lights and Dada told her we would leave her at home next time Emmett said, “I not want leave Bailey at home!” He was really upset when Clara insisted we would.

Leans into me and tells, “Gimme a beso! Not two besos sólo uno.”

“Everyone get out my room!”

“Neigh neigh not have a pene. Only I have a pene!” (After making neigh neigh go pee pee.)

“It not a baby monitor, it a niñito monitor!”

Clara reported that Abuela Sheri called Teegee Teagan Marie and Emmett then referred to her as “Teagan Monkey.”

“I not a drum!” (When I was patting his back.)

“Gatita was licking me and bit me and eat me.”

“Baby neigh neigh can’t play with legos pequeños. Only big neigh neigh.” (Aba has been warning them to keep small things out of Elise's reach.)

“I eat my applesauce and I drink my applesauce. That silly!”

“I going to my birthday with mama and Elise!” (After Clara said she was going to invite Bailey to do something special for her birthday and Emmett couldn't come.)

Emmett: (About finding out that Tia Erika was having a girl) “And a boy!” Me: “No it’s a girl.” Emmett: “But I get a niño cupcake!”

“Where your other hair go? I not want mama have that hair.” (After I got my hair done and it was straight.)

“Qué niños locos!” (Whenever he hears kids screaming.)

Emmett: “I have a peanut!” Me: “Where!” Emmett: “Hiding in my pantalones!” (Grabs his crotch.)

“Dada I wanna see your balls. They’re little and mine big!” (Talking about their snow hats.)

“Wehwah say she have a girl penis but her not have a penis. Only niños have penis!”

“The Luna fell out!” (Because it was day and he couldn’t see the moon.)

“I only have two hands to hold tings.”

Lo Que Dice Clarita Invierno 2018

Clarita continues to be a chatterbox, but now she can also be quiet when she's concentrating. She can easily spend an hour by herself doing an art project or playing with her barbies and she's pretty quiet. Her preschool teachers say she's quiet at school which I still have a hard time believing! She pronounces pretty much everything correctly and has excellent grammar. I seriously think she speaks better than a lot of adults! Her Spanish is improving and I often hear her speaking to Emmett in full sentences. Clara still calls us Shannon and Kevin, but I think she has actually been referring to us as Mama and Dada more often! 

Lately she’s been saying some variation of “It’s hard to be a mom and Dad. Before you had kids you didn’t know how hard it was. But too late now, you already have them!”

“Teegee told me that Christmas is about presents and decorations but I told her that it’s really about Jesus and God!”

“You don’t need it, you want it Emmett. I know all about life.”

“Bella Rose!” (Her fairy) “She was about to say bad Shannon. I don’t know why, she never heard me say that because she’s always in her house.” Me: “Do you say that?” Clara: “Yeah.” Me: “Why?” Clara: “I don’t know.”

“She’s a bad fairy because she tried to steal Ken from Barbie and Barbie wanted to marry him!”

“Shannon, a fairy, I think, fixed the door because it’s not broken anymore! You know fairies are real in the world Mom.” (Really Dada did it. Almost the same)

While watching a Spanish learning video: “Shannon they said escalera for stairs but escalera is really ladder. They’re doing it all wrong!”

“Oh Caramelo! I wanna hold that little guy but he’s not alive anymore.”

“They’re not as good as I was hoping. They’re not as good as the panadería!” (About the cookies she made.)

Because it has a vagina and an estómagosand the other ones only have estómagos. (How she knew her finger puppet was a girl.)

“Why are you walking around in circles? To get your steps in? That’s always what Aba does!”

“Is today Valentine’s Day eve or what?” (About the day before Valentine's Day.)

Clara: "Oh my gosh!" Dada: "What?" Clara: "I was just thinking about cutting a watermelon with blood on it!" 

“Is it a train with greedy on it?” (She meant graffiti.)

“Maybe we can buy a different T like 3T.” (When I told her Emmett’s costume was too small for him.)
