Christmas Eve 2016

The kids and I drove to Aba's house on Christmas Eve and Dada rode his bike (he's a little crazy). I was hoping they would both take good naps but Emmett slept for 20 minutes on the way there and refused to take a nap (I think he eventually slept for a half hour but there was a lot of screaming). Bailey also refused to take a nap and at one point it sounded like she and Emmett were crying to each other in a call and response fashion! Clarita took a good nap to make up for the other two!

We ate our traditional pasta dinner and it was delicious! The kids sat at a small table that we used when we were little. Bailey kept pushing the table into Emmett who would get mad and shove it back at her while Clara yelled at them both. We finally wedged it into the closet door and they stopped. We let the kids each open a present to take to church with them. They liked that and were antsy to open more.

A mountain of presents

Bayleaf wanted to join our family!

Apichuca came to Aba's house!

Church was a little different this year, but a lot of fun. Pastor Doris had shephard and angel costumes that the kids got to put on and help to act out the Christmas story. They had fun and it was hilarious since most of them were pretty little. At one point Bailey just walked up onto the altar and was dancing around!

Singing by candlelight, the best part of the service!

After church we headed back to Aba's to put on our pajamas, eat dessert, and open presents. We let the kids open their presents first and put them to bed before the adults opened presents. The kids had so much fun! Clara was really into Christmas this year. She had a count down calendar, an Advent calendar, and an Elf on the Shelf (Apichuca). She was so excited for Christmas and Santa and presents. Even though she really wanted to open her own presents, Clarita helped Emmett open presents first without anyone asking her to. She was so sweet showing him how to tear the paper off. He got pretty into it, but then wanted to take the toys out. His favorite was Clara's Carebear and he tried to shake it out of the box! Bailey just wanted to rip the wrapping paper off and didn't much care what was in the packages. She started opening them before we told them they could because she was so excited. It was a lot of fun watching the kids open presents. Tia Erika and Tio Robert got Clara a box of princess dresses and she was so excited that she started screaming and jumping up and down! It was hilarious.

Her favorite present

He plopped himself on Tia's lap to open presents!

After we put the kids to bed (they all went right to sleep), the adults relaxed, opened presents, and ate more. We all got great gifts and enjoyed spending time together!
