New Year's Celebrations COVID Style

For the first time in the kids' lives, we didn't go to the McClarty's for New Year's Eve. COVID put a damper on all our normal plans. While we were really sad not to celebrate with our friends, we decided to make the most of it and celebrate with Tios. Clara was in charge of snacks and made sure we had red vines since that is always a staple at NYE. Emmett got a mohawk to match DADA, we wore our matching jammies, took awesome prom style pictures, played games, ate and drank a lot, and had a lot of fun. Clara realized that it isn't quite as easy to stay up until midnight when you're not surrounded by a bunch of other kids and asked to take a nap at 10:00. She managed to rally and they decided that movies were a bad idea and they needed to play. We all made it to midnight and then promptly went to bed!

On New Year's Day, Dada, Tio, and I went for a short run to start the year out right! Then Dada made his annual breakfast of aebleskivers. Our celebration was a lot smaller with just Aba, Tios, and Grandma Donna, but Tio actually got to come for the first time since he wasn't making shrimp with his family. We all went to Tios in the evening for sushi, charcuterie, and cookies that Tia made. It was delicious and beautiful! Not our normal celebrations, but again, nice to relax and not feel rushed.
