Somehow my Little Guy is almost a year old...he continues to be pretty easy going and go with the flow, but has definitely developed a stubborn streak. He lets it be known when he is not happy and is relentless about trying to get something he wants. When Clara was little my friends with boys kept telling me how calm she was. While she was by no means calm, I now understand what they meant. She could at least sit still and read a book, Emmett is constantly on the move. He prefers to knock things over, crash into things, and throw things. He's definitely all boy!

Working out |
Emmett continues to be pretty flexible. He can nap on the go, take power naps, or miss his nap all together and still be pretty happy. He is generally happy except when Clara takes something from him or I leave. He has become quite the Mama's boy and hates it when I leave or put him down if he is hungry or tired. He immediately bursts into tears which quickly subside as soon as I am out of sight. Clarita was never this attached to me, I think it's a boy thing.
Emee really wants to walk, but isn't quite ready. He cruises around everything and pulls or pushes himself to standing any chance he gets. Sometimes he literally tries to jump out of my arms so he can walk. He still crawls with his little peg leg out, but boy can he move! He also likes to let go while standing up and clap! Jumping is another favorite and he often puts his hands against the wall and proceeds to jump up and down. The boy has energy!
My opinionated eater continues. I wouldn't really call him picky, but he definitely decides what he wants to eat. He literally looks at and touches his food to make sure it is something he wants. If he doesn't want it he often drops it on the floor or chucks it behind him. He wants to feed himself and only allows me to feed him yogurt and oatmeal with a spoon. Sometimes he lets me feed him fruit chunks, but he generally prefers to eat independently. His favorites continue to be pretty much all fruit (especially blueberries and grapes) and cheese. He gave up bottles this month and we realized that it was not a hatred of milk, but a hatred of being fed like a baby. He prefers to drink his milk throughout his meal from a cup just like everyone else. Some days he drinks tons of milk from his cup and other days he just sips. He still loves nursing and nurses three times a day when I am home.
Grunting is his preferred method of communication. He says Mama when he's upset, but otherwise just grunts. He can sign eat, but refuses to sign anything else preferring to grunt and point. He then gets angry when we don't understand what he's grunting and pointing at so it would behove him to learn sign language, I guess he doesn't really watch Baby Signing Time much so maybe we better make some time for that!
All in all my little Emee is the sweetest baby and we just love him to pieces. He still loves snuggling when he's tired and occasionally falls asleep while nursing. Then I just stare at him for half an hour because I know he will soon be past this stage and I will miss it. I love my Little Guy.
