A Party, A Recital, and Preschool Oh My!

Our camera broke and I couldn't get the pictures off it so I am way behind on blogs. Luckily I managed to get the pictures off thanks to Tia Alyssa so be prepared to be bombarded with blogs!

We had a busy super fun weekend the second week of June! Saturday was Jack's second birthday party at My Gym. It was a great place, as Clara put it, "like a big Gymboree!" The kids got to explore and play with all of the fun equipment. There were also some games, a parachute ride, and an airplane ride. Clarita was obsessed with the ball pit and Emmett loved crawling around, playing with balls, and standing up every chance he got (basically just like Gymboree). There were cupcakes, pizza, and much to Clara's delight, juice! She told me before the party that since it was a special occasion she thought there might be juice there. After the party we headed over to the Toms' for more food, friends, and swimming. I failed to take a single picture there because we were having too much fun! Curious George was on and Clara was obsessed. She literally laid on the couch watching it and when I asked her if she wanted to eat she said no because "I don't watch movies at home." She didn't want to stop watching and kept reminding me that she doesn't get to watch movies at home and wanted to watch it there. That girl! Jack was cute as can be and we had a great time celebrating him!

The ball pit was a HUGE hit!

impossible!

Sunday was the Toddler Tunes recital and Clara was pretty excited. She practiced before the recital and chose a dress to wear and "princess shoes" because, duh, she's a princess! Pretty much the entire class is related to us or good friends so it was a pretty funny recital. All of the moms were on stage and all of the grandparents/aunts and uncles were in the audience (I literally think that there were more spectators for the five minute Toddler Tunes part than the rest of the recital put together) so it kind of felt like we were all performing while our parents watched us too. It was super cute and most of the kids at least did the motions. Clarita sang quietly and did the motions, but not with nearly as much enthusiasm as she does at home. Tristan played the keyboard, but unfortunately did not go on until nearly an hour after the Toddler Tunes part. By that time Emmett had checked out and was getting fussy and Clara was hungry and whiny (the recital started at 6:00 which was a terrible time for trying to figure out dinner). I watched Tristan from the back of the church, but everyone else got to see him and he did great! Kate and Sophie came and brought Clara flowers which she loved! We headed to dinner after the recital with los Tios and Bayleaf, Aba, Tio Robert and Tia Erika, and los Abuelos. Bailey kept stealing all of Emee's food (she literally stood up in her high chair and basically laid on the table to grab his food) which was hilarious! It was a fun night and we are so lucky to have so many awesome people to support our kiddos!

Monday, June 13, 2017, Clarita started preschool. It is the summer session so it is more like daycare than preschool, but all the kids are in the same class so I thought it would be good for her to have Reedcito there in the same class when she started. He was so excited about being able to show Clara and Connor (who also started) around and sent them a video the night before telling them he loved them and how excited he was. Reed was very sweet Monday and was literally standing behind the door waiting for Clara to arrive! He gave her a hug and showed her around the room explaining everything to her. It was beyond cute! Clarita was so excited about preschool and picked out her own dress, hairstyle (just a clip), and insisted on wearing her backpack. She even made us take pictures of her back so we could see the backpack! We had been preparing Clara for preschool for months and really talking it up. She was super excited but I was a little worried that she would be sad when we actually left. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. She immediately started playing with some little girls and magnets and when I asked her to give me a kiss she gave me an air kiss and said bye! Clarita chose to not stay for lunch and Dada picked her up and took her to Tia's for lunch and nap. Her teacher said that she did great and did not have any problems. I asked her if she had fun at preschool and she told me no and that she didn't like anything. However she said she couldn't wait to go again Wednesday and that she wanted to eat lunch there on Wednesday so I guess she must have had some fun! Our baby is growing up...
