Good, Cold Fun

It's been a fairly cold winter and we've had tons of rain and snow in the mountains. This doesn't stop us from having fun! We went to the zoo on a freezing cold Friday. It was literally in the low 30s and super foggy. Tia had to buy gloves at the zoo because it was so cold. The kids managed to stick it out and didn't even complain too much. One advantage of going to the zoo in the cold and fog was that it was super empty I think we only saw a couple other groups! Our favorite exhibit was the super tropical house where the sloths and tiny monkeys are. It was so warm inside and the monkeys came so close to us and were jumping across the exhibit right in front of us! We ate lunch at In N Out where Emmett cried for a good 10 minutes because I wouldn't let him eat french fries until he ate a tiny bite of hamburger.

Bailey had been asking to go to the cabin for ages so we decided to go up and check out the snow. It was after a warm spell during which most of the snow melted, but then a storm came in and it even snowed while we were there. Los Tios, Bailey, and Elise came up for the day and we had a ton of fun sledding. Clara, Bailey, and Emmett could walk up the hill on their own and even pulled their own sleds up (Bailey and Emmett weren't quite as good at it as Clara, but one of them usually went with her so it worked out). Elise loved sledding and kept asking for more! I almost killed Emmett twice. Once I purposefully slammed into his sled causing him to fly off. The other time we were sledding together and he somehow fell out of the sled. I managed to grab him before he hit the ground (and the sled went over him) and pull him back in, but it was a close call. Apparently we shouldn't sled together!

We spent the night and enjoyed movies, popcorn, more sledding, a snowy walk, icicles, and of course trips to the store to get snacks! Los Abuelos came up Sunday for some sledding and lunch. It was a great weekend and we were glad we got a chance to get up to the snow!

She was obsessed with icicles!
