Lo Que Dice Clarita Verano 2019

Clara's my serious child who's always thinking about things and trying to reason things through.  Clarita speaks so well that she often seems older than she is and I constantly have to remind myself that she's only six and I can't expect her to act older just because she speaks like an older child. I think this has been a problem for me her whole life. Although they're fewer and farther in between, she still says some funny things. Unlike Emmett, she usually does not intend them to be funny and sometimes gets upset when we laugh.

Talking about all the schools in Kingsburg being named after presidents. “I hope they don’t name one after Donald Trump!”

“Last one home’s a rotten eggplant!”

We were rhyming words with yucky Clara: “You’re fucky.” Me: “Don’t say that, it’s not a nice word.” Clara: “What? Fucky? People name their dogs Fucky.”

Talking about high school: “Then I’ll buy my own stuff. That’s what all high school kids do.” (I'm very excited about this one!)

“You know why peanut butter cups are good for you? They have peanut butter and that’s protein!”

We got a nine person tent and I said, “I guess we can have five more kids.” Clara, “No you can’t, Dad had his penis cut. You could marry someone else though.”

Emmett said that he saw two cows and a chicken and Clara replied, “You mean dos (two) hotdogs and una (one) chicken nugget? That’s what they’ll turn into!”

“Emmett can you pretend to be a pianoist now?”

“Oh my gosh dad. I’ve heard this song a million times and it’s going to be stuck in my head. I do not like songs stuck in my head.” (Friday by Rebecca Black)

Life of a Big Sister

Clarita has been more easily annoyed by Emmett lately. He copies her, doesn't do what she wants, and wants to play with her toys. He's no longer the easy going baby brother she could boss around. They definitely fight more now, but they also still have more moments where they get along. In this moments, she continues to be patient, kind, and genuinely loves her little brother! She also gets to have lots of fun when he's napping! She started playing the violin and spent months obsessed with it!

Coaching Emmett to pee on the lawn

While Emmett naps, Clarita and Dada often go on adventures. They ride bikes all over town, fly kites and play at the high school, and often get treats!

Clarita is our little animal lover. She loves the cats and is constantly carrying them around. She's lucky they are easy going! She also loves daddy long legs and freaks out if she thinks we are going to kill one. She's even stopped killing snails.

Clara has a lot of fun at school with her friends! Kingsburg is good at incorporating fun into school! She also gets to have fun at music class!

As girly as Clara is, she also likes to play sports in the back yard and play in the dirt. Emmett hates to be dirty, but Clara could care less. She also loves dressing up and has decided that she looks cuter in glasses. As a result, she is constantly taking my computer glasses and wearing them around the house.

Aba made this for me when I was in kindergarten
Always so ladylike...

I've been trying to make more time to do things alone with Clarita. I know that she enjoys them and so do I!

Halloween 2019

As usual, we fit in as many Halloween celebrations as possible! We started the party with the Ketelsen's annual Halloween Party. The theme this year was 90s and the costumes did not disappoint! As usual I had so many great ideas, but ran out of time. We reused our hammer pants Tia made us nine years ago, added some vests, and I found a cassette player costume for Emmett (Clara pointed out that it said 80s mix, not 90s on it), and attempted to turn Clara into a microphone. Clara was suepr excited about her costume until she had to put it on. It lasted about 5 seconds and she turned back into a cat. Emmett changed into his hot dog costume as soon as we took pictures. We had a fun night complete with a magic show, the kids eating Oreos until they popped, and dance parties!

The golf course where Tio and a bunch of our friends are members had a trick or treat night this year. People decorated gold carts and the kids got to trick or treat. There was also food and face painting. The kids both went as hot dogs and had a blast! My personal favorite was Elise's tiny Mutt Cutts car right next to the bigger golf cart version!

Both kids got to wear costumes to school to celebrate Halloween. Emmett chose the hot dog and Clara made a last minute change and went as a Vampire. Dada and I dressed up too!

On Halloween Aba took Bailey and Emmett to church to help with Trunk or Treat. I picked the big girls up and met them there. The kids had a ton of fun passing out candy and took their jobs super seriously. Emmett chased people down shouting, "Happy Halloween," and even Elise was super excited to give out handfuls of candy.

Clara had music class and violin so we had to leave Trunk or Treat early. Everyone in her music class was in costume so that made it more fun! Unbeknownst to us, downtown Reedley was hosting a trick or treat down Main Street. It worked out perfectly because we had an hour to kill between music lessons. Clara had a great time and we saw lots of friends!

We ended violin early and booked it to the Raven's for their annual Halloween party. We got there just in time to wolf some food down and head out to trick or treat. The kids all had a blast! The older they get, the more into trick or treating they get! We had a great Halloween week and are now in a perpetual sugar coma!!
