A Parade, a Fiesta, and a Zoo

We've been busy around here! Saturday we went to the Reedley Fiesta Parade. Dada and Clara have gone every year (I missed last year because it was Tia's baby shower) and she enjoys the parade more each year! This year we sat with Tio Rene, Tia Alyssa, Tristan, Teegee, Tia, Tio, and Bay Leaf. Clara was pretty excited about the parade because she has a book where the characters end up in a circus parade and she was convinced this would be just as good. I don't think she was disappointed, especially since she got to eat her first candy in the form of a lollipop! Clarita has been obsessed with lollipops ever since Dada introduced her to the song "Lollipop" by the Chordettes. She was given a lollipop by one of the floats and once she saw Teegee eat hers I could not convince her that they were only for big ninos. She loved it and immediately asked for another (which she did not get)! Bay Leaf was super tired, but still managed to stay happy for her first Fiesta Parade. Baby Emmett slept through most of it, but was very happy for the 20 minutes he was awake!

Sunday was Ryland's third birthday. Charlyse threw an amazing party as usual and all of the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was western themed complete with ponies, a miniature western town, face painting, ice cream, and great food. Clarita was pretty excited to ride the ponies, play in the little town, and of course eat ice cream. Poor Ryland (who I failed to take a picture of) broke his leg last week so he wasn't able to get around much, but he still seemed to enjoy himself.

Lyla and Clara went straight for the saloon...

Happy birthday Ryland!

On Monday Aba and I took the kids to the zoo. It was the first member's only preview day of the new African exhibit and the line to get in was insane. Luckily Clarita was content to wait and we enjoyed our morning. The new exhibit is awesome! I believe that it doubled (or close to it) the size of the zoo and there are a ton of new animals including rhinos, wildebeests, African elephants, and lions. It is 13 acres and the animals can run free. We got to see the giraffes running and it was pretty amazing! Clara was tired after walking through the new exhibit and requested to be carried in the carrier. I haven't carried her in it for probably a year and she insisted that I carrier her on the front. Luckily she doesn't weigh very much! We had a fun morning, Emmett slept almost the entire time, Bailey took a short nap but was content to watch the animals and eat, and it was nice to be able to spend the morning at the zoo with Aba, something I can't usually do since I work. Hopefully we'll get to do it again before I go back to work!
